While his children already hold various directorships in the group's unlisted firms, this June Ambani stepped down as the chairman of India's largest wireless operator, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, making way for his elder son, Akash. At the AGM, Ambani referred to daughter Isha as the leader for the retail business.

Adani, 60, has spent the past few years expanding his coal-to-ports conglomerate, venturing into everything from data centers to cement, media and alumina. The group now owns India’s largest private-sector port and airport operator, city-gas distributor and coal miner.

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 45th annual general meeting of the oil-to-telecom conglomerate made major announcements ranging from the scheduled launch of 5G telephony by Diwali to sharing strong hints on his succession plan.

"For FY23, your company has earmarked Rs 3,117 crore for the existing lines of businesses excluding the paints and B2B e-commerce business," said Birla while addressing shareholders of the company.

Talking about succession, the 65-year-old tycoon said that the Akash and Isha have taken leadership roles at the telecom and retail businesses while younger son Anant has joined the new energy business and is being groomed for a leadership role.​​​
